Atomic number 82(2) phosphate is an ionic compound with chemic formula Pb3(POfour)2. Lead(Two) phosphate is a long-lived electronically neutral reagent chemic.[1] Despite limited tests on humans, information technology has been identified as a carcinogen based on tests on animals conducted past the EPA.[two] Atomic number 82(Two) phosphate appears as hexagonal, colorless crystals or equally a white powder. Pb(II) phosphate is insoluble in water and alcohol but soluble in Nitric acid (HNOiii) and has fixed alkali hydroxides. When lead(II) phosphate is heated for decomposition information technology emits very toxic fumes containing Lead (Atomic number 82) and POx.[three]

It is prepared past reacting lead(Two) acetate with sodium orthophosphate.

3 Pb(CH3COO)2 + 2 Na3PO4 → Pb3(POiv)two + half dozen Na(CH3COO)
